| Blog Subject: | Wool - dyed and knittedinto longies |
The first lot of Merino wool I bought online, together with some sachets of Kool-Aid. LOADS of photos - again, to remind myself how I did it (my children stole my memory via my placenta 1. A quick wash in soapy water to remove lanolin, then transferred into a bowl containing water with about a cup-full of white vinegar. ![]() 2. The Kool-Aid diluted in a few tbsp of water, and testing the colours on a strand of the wool (steamed in the veg steamer for approx 30 mins). ![]() 3. A 100g skein (or was it 2?) with the Kool-Aid spooned onto it, and then into the steamer for 30 mins. ![]() 4. The 2 skeins post-dye and dried out. My big girl wanting to use one of them as a 'pretty scarf' ![]() 5. Wound into balls (I started by winding it in a figure of eight around two fingers, then into a ball) ![]() 6. Fast forward about 2 months while I worked out how to knit longies and ta-da!!! The finished article (Forgot to mention I'd dyed another skein of wool a purpley colour to use for the waistband and leg cuffs)
