Diary of a sleep deprived mama - and the No Cry Sleep Solution experiment!

Hi  I'm mum of 4 lovely children, my youngest is 5 months old :) I thought as an 'experienced' mum, I would have her in a routine and be back to a full nights sleep in no time - how wrong I was :giggle: My daughter isn't a good sleeper, she refuses day time naps and at night she typically wakens at least 4 times - sometimes less, typically more. I have bought the book 'No Cry Sleep Solution' by Elizabeth Pantley, as I don't want to go down the road of Controlled Crying or Cry It Out, nor do I want to spend the next 12 months wakening every couple of hours during the night - I'm mentally and physically exhausted by it.

So, this is my diary - I have no time limit in place, I only hope it works :)

Nights 5, 6 and 7 :)

Night 5 - OMG, another one with numerous wakenings, mostly for cuddles, and 2 for feeds. Apparently I told my dh during one of these wake ups that I couldn't take any more - he apparently suggested taking her to see the Monks at the Monastry and I agreed :giggle: the things you say when you are sleep deprived, what did we think the Monks were going to do :giggle:

So Night 6 - dh slept in the spare room and Squish slept in my bed  Not what I had planned, and is exactly what I am trying to avoid doing as I'm not comfortable co-sleeping - I like my space. And she woke up as usual anyway so it really made no difference!

Night 7 - last night - a PTA meeting meant I didn't do the new bedtime routine, and it was left to daddy. So I come home at 8pm and Squish is as bright as a button sitting on her daddy's knee :panic: With getting everyone ready she was in bed by 9pm and I thought the worst, and when she woke at 10pm for a cuddle I dreaded the night to come :( She went back to sleep pretty quickly, though another wakening at Midnight and I was on auto-pilot, my eyes were barely open. Again, a quick cuddle and she was back to sleep - and didn't waken until almost 5am :) 5 full hours sleep - well, almost - but it was the best 5 hours sleep I have had in a long time  A good feed and she went back to sleep until 7.30am :wine: So, all in all, night 7 was a very very good night :) May the good times continue :)
