Diary of a sleep deprived mama - and the No Cry Sleep Solution experiment!

Hi  I'm mum of 4 lovely children, my youngest is 5 months old :) I thought as an 'experienced' mum, I would have her in a routine and be back to a full nights sleep in no time - how wrong I was :giggle: My daughter isn't a good sleeper, she refuses day time naps and at night she typically wakens at least 4 times - sometimes less, typically more. I have bought the book 'No Cry Sleep Solution' by Elizabeth Pantley, as I don't want to go down the road of Controlled Crying or Cry It Out, nor do I want to spend the next 12 months wakening every couple of hours during the night - I'm mentally and physically exhausted by it.

So, this is my diary - I have no time limit in place, I only hope it works :)

Nights 8 through to 14

Well, what can I say :( This isn't working. We had 1 night where she woke once - I can't remember which night it was but wow, we thought great, this is brilliant :) The next night, she woke twice in the night - we can deal with that we thought, twice a night is wee buns, no bother. But, it wasn't to last - we are back to every 2 hours, and wanting a feed each time to get her back to sleep :(

This morning, 5am, she decided she didn't want to go back to sleep, she wanted to play - sure, mummy is so pleasant at 5am, why wouldn't she want to play with me :giggle: All the shusssshing and nursing and feeding in the world wouldn't have gotten her back to sleep. 6.30am and she decides she has had enough so falls asleep beside me, 6.45am my alarm goes off, cue a tired, grumpy mummy, who actually threatened her husband with ABH if he even thought about asking me to make his lunch  :?

Stats - well, there are nights I have kept stats and nights I haven't - but wakening every 2 hours is not good :( We haven't even got to Phase 1 yet where we have to start putting her down before she is fast asleep - we even try and her eyes are wide open and she threatens to cry. So I guess we just keep going don't we? The no cry bit is good - it means she isn't getting upset and neither am I, the sleep solution bit though, well, that bit hasn't happened and I'm a bit gutted really, I so wanted this to work :(
