I'm off to see my mw today for the first time since booking in, in October. I'm not looking forward to it. Mind you, with all this snow, she may not make it to the local doc's. I will phone and see in a bit. |

Good luck and be strong and assertive! (pretend you're acting a part if you aren't feeling very strong)

Hello! Well, I managed to stay calm. The letter helped to gain the desired effect, and we have reached an understanding. This time she categorically stated that even after consultant advice it was my choice, that they would support me in my choice and that they would always provide a mw. We just need to get a double check (well, she would like) on the antibiotic thing. She has specifically made me an appointment with the main consultant rather than the registrar, and she sounded me out on my wishes, and was respectful of them and seemed to agree with me. This after one of the worst night's sleep ever! (acid, headache, dodgy tum this am. etc). I convinced myself to stay calm, as that was the only way I was going to be able to get the best for my baby, and also would avoid any high BP readings!! We cleared up a lot of confusion over consultant appointments (hospital's fault it seems) and she apologised for not being able to speak to me properly last time. For the first time I feel calm and in control. We heard the heartbeat for the first time (she called R in from waiting room), and he is a good size, neither too large or too small, but she said these measurements get more accurate as time goes on. |
