Terry's for an older baby.

Postby BekkiLB » Fri Apr 25, 2014 2:15 pm

This might be a bit long winded but please bare with me. So I'm fairly new to cloth nappies but at the moment I have bamboo little lambs and little bloom pocket nappies. I love my LLs but they take forever to dry when I can't get them hung outside (which is most if the time ATM) I knew that would be the case but when I got then we were supposed to be moving to a new house with space for a tumble drier! My son is 9months, 22lb and a Heavy wetter so I'm wondering if terry nappies would work well for an older child. (I know years ago that's all they had) what brand would you reccomend and would the LL wraps I have be suitable or should I use something else. When I've looked online there only seams to be info for newborns. Thanks in advance!

I've never used flat nappies on any of mine, but loads of people over here use them (i'm in the US) I'm not sure if any of the girls here have used them, I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you some ideas.

Welcome to the tree by the way

Hi
I used bamboo terries with my ds2 very successfully until he was about 2. I used to use the Jo fold and boosted with hemp between the layers. LL wraps will work fine

I used terries as part of my nappy rotation on Louis from about 6-12 months as they were so quick to dry over the winter. I also used the Jo fold boosted with a fleece liner and various wraps worked well including mother-ease and Nature Babies wraps.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I have a few Terry's already and sometimes used a tea towel for the last half hour before bath or in emergancies. I've been using. Fold where I fold into quarters, pull the two sides into triangles and fold the middle bit into 3 (I've no idea what it's called, granny showed me) but I'll give the Jo fold a go aswell. Now to secretly buy more Terry's! My argument of it saving money is quickly becoming invalid!

Ah but you see when you have finished with nappys you can turn Terry's into great cleaning cloths

Been looking at hemp boosters and they are so expensive! If I'm keeping 10 or so LLs for bedtime and Terry's for day time do you think I'll need to boost? I change 2/2.5 hours during the day.

Tiny Nippers do cheap trifold hemp boosters. We use them in our pockets with a bamboo booster.
I wouldn't be able to use terries with my boys as they are so desperate to be up and moving that I wouldn't be able to get it on before they were trying to escape :giggle: I lived them when my youngest was little though.
