Talk to me about...Wee Notions All In 2 (AI2)

Findlay seems to have changed shape and we are getting lots of leg gape on most things now as I am having to heighten the rise on his OS nappies but they then become far too big round the legs (he's got longer and longer but he never seems to get any wider) and it won't be too many more months before he outgrows his xs sandies etc so I will need to get him some new nappies so I am pondering between WNSS pockets or some WNAI2. I bought some of their small SS pockets about 5 months ago and they seem to fit Findlay really nicely (although I'd need to get mediums now for the rise and not sure what the leg gape on them would be like  ) but I don't know anything about the AI2.

Do you love them, find them ok or hate them?

How have people found the fit on very skinny babies?

Are they any good for heavy wetters?

Is the fit similar to the SS pockets?

Ummm can't think of anything else off the top of my head at the moment.

Antonia is skinny and they fit her like a dream. They are very similar to the SS, but I actually prefer them (I like the fact that you can just chuck them in the washing machine without taking the insert out the pocket)

Don't know about the heavy wetter bit as Antonia is pretty light.

I think they are my favourite AIO/2 type nappy (along with Itti AIOs) at the moment.

I love my AI2's. I have a pretty heavy wetter and they are fab (when washed to absorbancy but I rarely prewash anything). The only thing I will say is that when I first started useing them Lucas was in the very bottom end of the sizing measurements of the large and the top end of the medium so I went for the large. We fot awful leg gape at the time. I then got a preloved medium which fitted perfectly so I had sized him up to soon. Dispite the snaps not being able to do up on the tightest setting on the large. I would just be aware of this but if he has outgrown his smalls than you should be ok anyway.

I've tried both and much prefer the pockets, I don't really rate bamboo terry (the main material in the AI2 inserts) for bulk/absorbency. I like with the pockets that you can stuff them with whatever you need, and I found them much more reliable than the AI2s. A lot of people do love the AI2s though (some get leaks with the pockets but not the AI2s, the opposite of me!). Your best bet is probably to try one of each - keep an eye out for preloved, or someone might be able to lend you one? With the AI2, especially for a heavy wetter, I'd recommend getting the 4-layer insert and putting a hemp booster underneath, I found that the absorbency was better than with a 6-layer insert and it was if anything less bulky.

Thanks! I might look at getting a WNAI2 with extra snaps on it to make the waist and leg holes smaller (we are still on tightest setting on small WNSS and WNNL but he's going to outgrow the rise v soon) and see how we get on with it then. That's really handy to know about the 4 layer insert with an extra hemp booster being better than the 6 layer insert :D

I've just got one and it's pretty as a picture, but I wouldn't trust the insert on its own - it's basically a layer of microfibre and one of bamboo terry, which I don't rate all that highly for absorbency. With an easy-peasy hemp booster, it did pretty well for me this afternoon, and the fit is great. And did I mention it's as pretty as a picture...?

I love my AI2s, they are really handy for out and about as I can guarantee if she's in fitteds, the poo will be on the wrap and I won't have a spare one!

Merry is tall and skinny, and they fit well, but the ones I have ordered new I have got the high rise on, as I think it will extend the life of them. She's a fairly heavy wetter as she drinks a lot, and they cope well. Some say don't get the limited edition cotton, but some of mine do (as a front border cut) and some don't and I haven't noticed any difference in performance.

I did have to have a 'how to' session with my husband and the childminder, who were put off by the poppers, but after five minutes they caught on! I'm about to order 3 more when I get paid, which shows how much I use them!

If you want any advice on fabrics and cuts etc, just ask, as I know some people are a bit confused by the order form!!!
