Snugglebots fleece soakers sizing help please!

Postby timtam » Mon May 17, 2010 10:33 pm

My first post on here and am brand new to the world of night nappies! My 5 month old is a very heavy wetter and is soaking wet every morning so am going to try a WNNN with (hopefully) a Snugglebots fleece soaker on top. Just wondered about sizing for the soaker? I measured the baby today - he is a bit chunky around the belly and legs - waist 19" rise 16" thighs 10", had thought this might be a medium but from the website size guide he is at the top of the medium size range for thigh, nearly at the maximum for waist but if I go for the large the rise (20") looks like it will be massive on him. Anyone out there who has/had a similar big-bellied chunky-thigh'd baby and managed with a medium or should I go for the large?

Am a bit clueless about all things night-nappy-related as have been getting by in the day with BG and microdiddys but no chance of those lasting through the night even with hemp I think (have hemp inserts on order for use with the WNNN!)

thanks for any advice!

personally I would go for the large - the one thing you can guarantee is that babies will get bigger :giggle:

My DD has about 16" waist, 19" rise over night nappies (17.5" during the day) and 10" thighs - we used larges as mediums are too tight, and particularly with a thick night nappy (the WNNN is pretty big) you will want more room - fleece doesn't stretch as much as wool does.

Don't forget that the rise is measured from the waist at the back, down under the legs and back up the front again, over the night nappy - this is bigger than just doubling the measurement from waist to crotch if that makes sense, as you have to allow for the fabric of the nappy too - if you are going to boost your WNNN with extra hemp then you will need even more room - so I'd definitely say large would be better. It doesn't matter if it's too high up, but it won't work if it's too short.

thanks very much for that. Yes I measured the rise as you said - from back to front through the legs but it was only over a disposable, PUL wrap (my current attempt to stop nighttime leaks!) and sleepsuit. So if he's in the WNNN his rise measurement will go up quite a bit by the sound of it. Looks like a large it is then!

thanks again
