Thirsties duo wrap - leaking

Postby ellemonkey » Sun Jun 19, 2011 7:38 pm

I have 3 thirsties wraps and have been using them all this past week but they have leaked at every nappy change.

They are new ones, not preloved.

I heard really good things about these but feel really let down by them.

Back to airflow it is.

That sounds very odd?
I have 6 and the only time they have leaked is when a bit of nappy has been left sticking out.
Even overnight on my heavy wetter we've not had leaks.

Where/how are they leaking?
Have you got the fit correct? Rise correctly adjusted, ensured nothing is sticking out at the leg gussets or the top middle at the front particularly?

they seam to be wicking from the aplix. maybe i should have got the poppered version.

i have made sure the waist band isnt rolled over or the aplix touching the nappy but still no change.

Hmmm I ve not had a leak either but I have known the front bit where the poppers are to get damp if she s been sleeping on her tummy for longer than predicted and the nappy is saturated at the front.

Is the nappy underneath saturated at that front bit?
Is your little one a front wee r? My nappies are always dry at the back.
Are the clothes tucking in at the front?
Is it leaking out the legs at the front and travelling up the edging IYSWIM?

Not tried the poppers. I m puzzled :/

i use aplix duos and never had a problem. but i only use them on super absorbant nappes that don't get very wet on the outside. if its getting through the aplix it sounds like the nappies must be ver very wet on the outside. what sort of nappies are you using and how often do you change?

We have been mainly using bamboozle stretchies this week, I change every 2 hours and the nappy is sopping wet at the front due to his little boy bits

If you are changing every 2 hours & he is sopping wet then the nappies aren't absorbant enough for him. Have you tried folding a bamboo booster & putting it at the front?

WSS...the wrap will only keep so much in...if the nappy is sopping wet then most wraps will leak im afraid :-? Sounds like you need moreabsorbancy in the nappies tbh!

I agree that it sounds like a problem with the nappy's absorbancy.
I've only used Applix versions & haven't had this problem.

Also, silly thing to mention, but are you ensuring that his boy bits are pointing downwards?
