Been in the garden much of the day again! Finished (well for now) the circular bed, was really hard work we had to dig out the (many) brambles and nettles then cardboard the whole lot

Then a layer of straw, this will then have other layers added to it (compost, grass clippings etc) but not sure if I´ll get a chance before I go away but at least the boards down to start doing thier weed killing thing! This will be my first truely no dig bed so hoping I can get enough layers to really keep the weeds away!

When I get back from Oz Iĺl worry about the paths in this. Still need to finish getting the raspberries etc moved into the new top bed and top dress and mulch it as well.
I also got 2 of the 3 paths on the front beds weeded and wood chipped, just have the one going all the way through left to do and then the bottom ones are sorted. Still all the paths for the top though  and sooo much weeding everywhere and spring isn´t even here yet!

And I forgot to say the other thing we did was actually run some plum lines and straighten things up and all my original beds have been extended by up to 1/2 metre and straightening the top bed added that at one end too so probably about 4 or 5 m2. Not sure I'll get those bits transformed but we'll see!

Desperately need to do a proper spread sheet so I know what has gone in when and where and how long to grow etc but at least I have this thread for the moment to list it all then I can do the other stuff later!

15 February
  • Planted first lines of carrots and radishes (mixed) direct sew.

17 February
Planted into mini bottle greenhouses:
  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes (marmande)
  • leeks
  • Broccoli
  • Thyme
  • Lettuce
  • Basil
  • Cosmos
  • Gaillard

18 February
  • Planted raspberries
  • Started round bed
  • Parsley (flat) direct sew into herb bed
  • Planted pot of rosemary that I have been meaning to do since last April!

23 February
  • Planted 40 Mangetoute

  • Planted 60 garlic bulbs (Rose de Lautrec) :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: they'll work this year! Feel better as lady in garden centre told me that last spring was a nightmare and lots of peoples garlic rotted as it was so wet - much dryer this year!

25 February
  • Planted carrots (rainbow mix) with radishes mixed in 1 row
  • One row spring onions
  • Headed lettuce 1 row
  • Cauliflower 1 row 'All year round' (slightly early so may not work but giving it a go to try to get ahead while I'm away!)

26 February
Big lot of planting into my milk bottle mini greenhouses:
  • Purple Sprouting broccoli
  • Cauliflowers
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Basil - giant variety
  • Echinacea
  • Zinnias (giant variety)
  • Calendula (2 varities - I think - were in different packets and different names but one French and one UK so maybe the same :giggle: )

I think that really has to be it now before I go! Although my pea teepee should really be built it will just have to wait! Also need to find out about my potatoes if they can wait until I get back or if I need to get J to build the potato cages and do it! Am so tired :night: feel like I haven't stopped in weeks other than the other day when I was sick but spring does wait for any woman!!!
