Mid May photos (as requested by @sim !):
Blueberries doing really well even though I haven't decided where to plant them yet and they are still in pots! I have read you shouldn't pick the fruit the first year :lookround: not sure that is going to happen  Really need to stop being indecisive and plant the poor things!
Image
My gorgeous weileiga (sp?) and some of my pale irises, they sadly got got by the big frost the other week and it spoiled the first round of flowers just as they came into flower
Image
Cardboard down on some of the hoop house area, really need to get on to get all the tomatoes etc in! The plan is for butternuts, gourds and melons to be planted at the base of each hoop and to be trained up and over and then down the centre will be ropes hanging down with the tomatoes growing up them - if it works I'm hoping it will be really easy to harvest and look seriously cool :hohoho:
Image

The long weedy bit is where the beans are going, urgently need to get it weeded, topped and mulched and build the frames ( @confusinglady I'm going to cut down some of my hazel branches to make my frame I think). Strawberries to the back of the photo, courgettes will be goign to the right of them on the bottom of the 'L', the bush on the right is some spinich still in there from winter and there are broccolis and caulis planted but think I've been too slow so don't think they'll work to be honest
Image
Radishes, carrots, lettuces all going well:
Image
Peas doing well, area to the right has some small cauli seedlings but dont' have much hope, want to get some beetroots in there and I think Pak choi as well, bed to the left is the one with the chillis / peppers / basil in next pic then the potatos next across:
Image
I planted an aubergine, a Thai chilli, marigold, and basils in this area, the rest will be peppers, chillis and more basils (would love to grow enough to make our pesto for the year - the boys eat so much of it!).
Image
Potatoes coming up, no idea what to do now, when am I supposed to cover them more?
Image
In the background is the autumn planted onions and shallots, no idea when they will be ready.

Just got myself totally overheated and I think low blood sugar as I got really shaky (I didn't have brekkie before going out to work  !). Managed to get the whole long side of the E and the top bed on the E as well (if you look at the 4th pic down that was the before pic!) as well as running around picking stuff up as J was mowing. Here is what it looks like now, I'm so excited as that is the last of the major bed weeding for the spring :yahoo:
Image
I'm going to mix some of my kind of compost (need to get better at composting!) with some bagged soil (sadly goign and getting a trailer load of build doesn't exist here!) and cover it with a couple of inches of that then straw mulch it then plant  Beans will be going down the long side of the 'E' and there will be courgettes in the top of the 'E'!

Oops forgot to submit and went for a nap! Need to do the Bergerac run in a minute and really hot out so will finish the rest this afternoon when I get back.

Thanks @autumnalgirl and @littlesez  it kind of is at the moment, but if we are going to give a good stab at being self-sufficient as we can I kind of need to treat it like it is at least a part time job! and to be fair this time of year is always the hard slog time in the big rush to get so much in at the same time, and still making new beds this year. I'm hoping next year will be easier as there are no plans (at this stage :lookround: ) to add anymore beds, although that could always change.

Well last spring I thought there were signsof life so I planted it and then we had no rain for 3 months and I kept forgetting to answer it so by this winter it was looking like....... a stick! I kept holding out hope though and lo and behold just this week noticed a tiny bit of growth coming up from the base of the 'stick that used to be a plant' :hohoho:
Image
So ummmm @sim it could be doing better but not all Lachlans fault :giggle: :giggle:

Fab @ems101 (although get her out of there, she'll compact your soil :hohoho: ).
