Use bicarb of soda to clean it, that will get wid of the smell. When one of the kids vomited on the carpet I sprinkled on the bicarb and then rubbed it in with a wet cloth x

I'll second the bicarb, it does a good job at getting rid of smells.

I just sprinkled it on and then rubbed it in with a really wet cloth or you could make up a solution with it in some water either way works, leave to dry then give carpet a hoover x

Another vote for bicarb here!

Which reminds me... with the puppy arriving on Saturday, we must get some more in ready for those accidents during toilet training!

The people who make & hire out rug doctor also make a spray called urine eliminator!
I used it once in a rented house - worked brilliantly, but is very strong smelling.
the bicarb is gentler

Dyson does a microfine sponge powder with a lovely scent which might help too. Not cheap though-I have to use it because I've got sisal (fitted before I had a child and a dog)
