@JabberJabber

Yes we did - we bought a vax steam one. It only does light stains and marks - but its a good 'general day-to-day' one. We use it as a 'refresher' for our carpet.

Its amazing on the granite kitchen floor and vinyl bathroom floor too - so much easier, quicker and more efficient than a mop/bucket

Its this one

Update: After a year of using the steam cleaner above... combined with 2 children, a large dog, cream carpets and lots of work of the garden...
We decided we needed something more substantial than a 'spot carpet cleaner' which is how the steam cleaner has turned out.

We use the steam cleaner a few times a week on the hard kitchen floors and bathroom floors - and it works like a dream. but it not ideal for deep cleaning carpets.

So we've just bought a proper carpet washer...
this one...

And its FANTASTIC!! definitely worth the money and we've used it 3 times already in the last 10 days.
Its got soooo many marks out of the carpet - including dried childrens paint!

Very very impressed!!!!
No more money to be spent on rug doctors and the hassle of hiring them!

I can now have properly clean cream carpets :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
