Smoke alarms

Postby confusinglady » Fri Apr 05, 2013 2:43 pm

Anyone got any ideas why my mains powered smoke alarm would be going off when we re not on fire?

It's just gone off three times in the last hour for what appears to be no reason. It stops itself after some time but that seems to be random too.

BIL has just told me to Hoover them to remove dust, so I ve done that.

Help I don t want it to go off in the night.

The batteries might be flat. I know they're mains powered, but all alarms have batteries too, in case of power cuts.

We have mains powered ones too and we find that the batteries go much quickly than in just battery powered ones :-?

They also go off more if they are faulty.
I learnt recently that they don't last forever and have to be replaced regularly for them to keep working

Worth checking to see if its still working.

It's worth getting into the habit of checking smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on a very regular basis. Oliver likes to help by pressing the button :]
