Booster size

Postby Liz_Mossum » Mon Apr 29, 2013 4:56 pm

I have received some boosters from the Nappylady, but they seem massive. I'm new to cloth, so not sure what size they should be, but they seem to big for all the small and newborn nappies that I have (combination of small and newborn). They look like they will make the top of the nappy gape.

Do you use boosters with newborns? What about for babies that are just generally smaller, should I be getting a specific sized booster? I did ask the Nappylady if they were meant to be folded to fit more effectively, but she said that they just lay flat. Know it sounds silly, but it's getting me down not knowing this stuff; making me a feel a bit useless and stressed (hormones no doubt)

Also, are booster always a bit rougher in texture and liners softer? I've got some second hand and can't tell which is which. Thanks

Ive never used boosters for newborn or small sizes.
Ive always you are changing them every 2-3hrs because they are pooping more - so boosting to last longer isnt required.
I only started boosting when mine were not longer doing dirty nappies at night - so needed one to last that long, but that was from around 4 months - and prefer fitted and wraps for night time - so worrying about leg gap isnt so much of a problem with the nappy as long as the wrap fits well

My favourite slim boosters are little lamb bamboo boosters - they are thin but absorbant to add about 1-2hrs onto the length of the time the nappy can be on for.

The only child I needed to boost newborn nappies for was my 4th. The others weren't particularly heavy wetters so the nappies lasted just fine without boosting. With DD3 I used Itti mini boosters in all her newborn nappies.

Thanks both :) So I'll just keep these to use as he gets older then.
Did you see the question about liners? Are they generally quite soft, as they sit against the skin?
