Jacob got very sore if ever in sposies.
As others have sepaid, I switch to full time wool to sort out any skin nasties.
Have you had any leaks, which might have been exacerbating? If so, maybe try wool longies?

How frustrating that it's back again. I hope you find the solution soon.

We use wool at night and fleece during the day at home. His legs are now much better, when sorting out the washing there was more night nappies than boosters so maybe his night nappy was wetter than usual and rubbed. It's so hard sometimes using cloth as anytime he has a rash or sore but everyone's on my back blaming his nappies yet if they were sposies they wouldn't be questioned

I would try a specialist paste called ILEX. You can only buy it from the company that makes it called Oakmed but it is a wonder medication. It is disgusting stuff but my goodness it works. It is about £15 a tube but it is worth every penny. It is meant for people with stoma's, gastro feeding tubes and other troublesome situations where acidic body fluid can come into contact with skin. We used it on our prem baby when she started weaning. Her stomach was badly developed and meant that her nappies (despite being cloth) were filled with badly acidic stools and urine. She ended up with burns all over her rear end and legs, so bad that they formed deep holes and would bleed uncontrollably. At every nappy change you plaster the ILEX onto the affected area then coat it in Vaseline so that no paste shows through. Then use a fleece liner in your nappy. If treating an area outside the nappy, cover over the Vaseline with gauze and tape it down. At the next nappy change DO NOT wipe the paste away. Clean off any soiling and then re-apply the paste over the top of the old paste and follow the same procedure all day. The paste will go bobbly and sticky and yucky but trust me, leave it alone and just reapply over the top. The idea is that you don't touch the skin underneath until bathtime. At that pont you remove all the layers with baby oil on cotton wool. After bathtime reapply again and follow the same process as the day before and continue until the next bath time. Give it 2 or 3 days and you will have a different child. Like I say, it is a messy, gooey and sticky process but it really does work. Any other help gladly offered.
Best of luck
Nancy

Hi,

I read this thread and I hope you don't mind me asking. My 10 month old boy also gets a red rash around his thighs. But it's mainly during the day that it flares up. I use AIOs or pockets in the day & bamboozles stretchies with a wool cover overnight. I only recently started using wool at night as I was worried that it was the wrap that was causing it. In the morning his legs are fine, but by the evening they are very red. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Hi Zeta, sounds like his skin isn't liking something in the day nappies at the moment - possibly the PUL or just the friction of the stiffer leg openings? Is he teething at the moment? I struggled with mine with this sort of rash when they were teething as the urine is more acidic which causes more issues. Do your nappies maybe need a strip?

The only other thing I can think of is to try the bamboozles in the day, either with wool or fleece wrap. Fleece is softer than AIO / pocket legs and not as thick as wool so may not cause the rubbing issues. I often use wool in the day as well, I have shorties, soakers and longies depending on the weather, maybe worth trying even just at home to see if that helps.

I really rate Weleda's Calendula creme - is seems to calm and protect and is all natural.

Let us know how you get on @Zeta and I'll come back if I think of anything else.

Thank you very much clothmama. I only have 4 bamboozles so it sounds I need to buy more. But I'll try it and see. Thank you.
