When I use metanium (or other creams on Blake) I use a fleece liner - even if the nappy is already fleece lined. It protects the nappy and so far the 2 layers of fleece haven't caused any leaks.

Lansinoh is also good for nappy rash. I have just bought a cream from waitrose that is all natural ingredients, but I haven't used it on nappy rash yet (fingers crossed I won't get to use it for ages!). It seems lovely (I have been using it as lip balm so far). It's called 'baby bottom butter' and is waitrose own brand. It was recommended to me months ago, but I hardly ever go to waitrose. It only contains - olive oil, hydrogenated olive oil and chamomile oil. It was about £2.50 for a 125 ml tub.

 I hope the rash clears nice and quickly.

Can you have him bare bottomed for the day? I always found that to be the best and quickest way to clear anything up!

Have a look in the nappy rash section, there's loads of advice there, I've moved this post into it for you. Whenever we've had to use metanium I've always used a paper AND a fleece liner to protect my lovely fluff. We like Earth Angel Baby diaper rash soap for cleaning bums when they are sore and Northern Essence Better Butt(er) cream. Earth Friendly Baby Red Clover Nappy Cream and Magic Fairy Botty Balm are also good.

I always use a nice soft tots bots fleece liner when using bum cream. Plenty of bare bum time works wonders as well, can't get any more natural than that :giggle: Just watch out for the puddles!
Hope it clears soon

thanks all, iv oredered some unrefined shea butter and im gonna dig out the paper liners. frequent changing is helping as its keeping him dry. nappy off is great but he has a runny tummy, hes finally eating something now so will see how he goes, as he had nappy off couple days ago and he had really bad runs allover the floor and decided to put hands in it :nono: :puke:
guess will see how we get on.xxxx
