sore and bleeding!

hey all, taliesin had a bit of a sore on his bits yesterday, so we spend lots of time with no nappy on etc etc till bedtime when he went of in a wnnn, this morning i took it off and a bit of him was stuck to the nappy, i slowly peeled it off and now it looks like he has a bit of skin missing and he's bleeding a bit. i don't want to put a nappy on him as it looks really sore, and was thinking of leaving him nappy less again. but he's a wriggle bum and won't stay still so will it be a day of chasing round after him with a cloth? don't want him to get cold, but also don't wanna make it worse. any suggestions? or is air the best remedy?

I use wipes soaked in roibos tea and lansinoh cream if Blake gets sore and have him nappyless as much as possible. Also, no pul either fitteds with no cover, fleece or wool.

he had just a fleece wrap over the wnnn last night in the hope it'd be more breathable. will steer clear of his ai2's and pul wraps today, got kamosillan, lansinoh, bepanthem, and sudocreme here, haven't put anything on yet as last night it wouldn't go on the sore bit, it slid over it. he seems quite happy as always and not bothered by it, been cleaning him with cotton wool in water instead of wet wipes as i heard wipes can make it worse. i ain't gonna buckle and get some sposies as i'd just feel guilty putting one on him will give him an hour or so to see if the air can dry it for him a bit, but he's been kicking around and now keeps getting blood on his ickle ankles :(

best thing i used was metanium. dan had a simular rash a few weeks back. thankfully its healed now. keep the nappy off where you can, plenty of cream, no PUL and clean and dry it well, i just used water on a wipe.

we didn't get metamium as casey was allergic to it, and due to her bowel problem never had skin on her wee bum bless her. we used to trial this stuff that came on a lollipop looking thing, it created a second skin and was fab! trouble is i wouldn't know if u can get it now, and i'm not mean enough to use the spray plaster on it. air it is then! thanks girl's will keep all u have said in mind, and hope it at least dries up soon. is it worth maybe giving him a bit of water to drink to make he pee a bit less strong? or not?

I wouldn't bother giving water unless he's drinking formula... Otherwise just let him feed a bit more perhaps...

Something gentle on the skin - and don't forget to dry the skin after you've cleaned it before you pop a nappy on... ;)

I would put something on but mild like vaseline or lansinoh...
I swear by (still do) the angel baby bottom balm, it's so healing and not thick like sudocreme so the skin can heal and breathe... It does have a mild barrier action but as with any cream you only need to put on a small amount anyway...

Water is a good idea then if he'll drink it :)

Make sure you're only wiping him when he's poo'd though - don't wipe him if he's just wee'd - just dry him and pop another nappy on...
Wiping when they've just wee'd can irritate the skin... :?

 hope it clears up soon
