mr T has a sore bum, yet again! lost for solutions

he seems to be getting it alot of late. started yesterday when he was in pockets all day and easyfits so today he's been in flexitots and wool in the hopes it would be better.

it's got worse! grrrrrr

so bad that we had him screaming for over an hour this evening, which isn't like him at all, to give his bum a break he is smothered in lansinoh and in an eco sposie.

we try and use just one sposie a night with T, sometimes 2 with oakley, strangely i can put almost any nappy on oakley without a problem, taliesin seems to not cope too well in cloth of late i've noticed. i really want to order some silk liners, but i kinda need something now, and i need them bigger at the bum. his skin had broken and was bleeding when wiped, so as he couldn't tolerate wipes all i could do was let him dry and then slowly add some cream. washing wise i use a desertpoon of powder in each load, and do an extra rinse every time so the nappies are as clear as i can get them, he's been changed 2 hourly today i thought about nappy free time but he's peeing alot. drink wise, i wonder if trying to get him to drink water will help make things less acidic, he's a pita for not drinking water, and only taking milk, he's suddenly increased his milk intake so much, that he's gone from 6 oz bottles to 9ozs. it's taking 2 9oz bottles at night to settle him to sleep. i've told sy rather than get him used to sleeping with a bottle, to have a beaker with water in by him (i'm a water a holic, only thing i can drink if i am thirsty. ) i wonder if this would make a difference? i know i can't go on with him being so sore. i so hoped a day in wool would have eased it, not make it three fold worse. i usually ine his nappies with minkee liners, could this be the problem?

any advice would help

thanks

annika

I know its not an answer but have you thought about whether it might be something he's eating! Cos with Cara I know she cant have oranges or to many strawberries!

hmmm i had thought of food, there is an egg intollerance in my family, so i can't eat eggs in there whole form, but he doesn't have them coz i rarely do.

in fact i bought some today to do the older kids egg mayo sandwiches, and my 10 yr old laughed that i was boiling eggs, then looked rather stunned as hard boiled eggs came out of the shells after i boiled them!

Poor T, Poppy has had it bad on and off too. :-(

I've been using lansinoh with fitteds and wool, it works pretty well but she really prone to rashes. Once I've got one under control she starts on the next one.. I switched to using chamomile tea with lavender for wipe solution and today bought some kammilosan which after two applications looks like it's really helping! I guess the concentrated combo of chamomile and lanolin directly on the skin is better than the two separate..

Silk liners are good too, I'm going to get some for Poppy to use overnight but our problem is teething and stealth poops.. She doesnt stink like Noahs toddler poos so Mike doesn't always notice she's done one and she's always worse after he's been looking after her.

Oh and pocket nappies set it off too, if she's had a slight pink rash then it's always worse after pockets. I only use them when her skin is perfect.

lansinoh i did notice made a difference actually, pockets same here, clear bum days, he's been clear for more than a week in pockets but he wore an easyfit to bed as i wanted to test it's holding power.this was last night, nappy performed like a dream but his bum was pink so into fitted nappies and wool he went, he was changed 2 hourly and each change it got worse.

i need a cloth g string nappy i think, one that catches pee but lets him bum stay dry!

i've ordered some silk liners from beth now, and she is making them bigger at the bum for him too :-)
