Sore leg rash :(

Postby nic1 » Tue Apr 15, 2008 7:18 pm

Evie woke last night at 3am ish saying 'nappy off' and i took it off and replaced with a disp as she asked for cream on too. She has these really sore looking rash marks where her nappy elastic has been and it looks awful, think her night nappies rub as it's just the area that they lay and these keeps waking her. I have popped a disp on tonight too and lots of vaseline on the sores also. I hate putting her in a disp but even dh commented that her legs were really bad and i agree. She is pretty much trained by day now as i can't remember the last day we had any accidents so only in nappies at night time now.

Anyone any advice?

Might they need a strip wash Nic?

Isabelle used to get terrible rashes round her legs due to build-up in the cuffs, even when the rest of the nappy was fine, I think because they're scrunched up that bit is harder to wash if that makes sense?

I find shea butter is the absolute best thing for sore-leg rashes like that, can't find anything to beat it yet...

Has she had a 'grow' recently that's making them fit differently too?

Poor poppet hope tis better soon...

Katie has that sometimes. I think that in her case it's when the nappy is really sodden and the weight pulls it down the legs a bit making it rub. An extra hemp insert usually sorts it out - and I use shea butter too

I've got a huge pot, if you just want a bit I'll put it in with the dress. Or £5 for the whole pot?

To strip my nappies for this reason I do a normal wash with a normal amount of detergent and then do a full wash (on cold this time) without any detergent at all...
Or you can just keep rinsing and rinsing until you see no suds at all in the water when it's rinsing...

I've done it both ways and both have worked.
