Homemade babypowder?

Postby ramsons » Wed Apr 30, 2008 8:58 am

Has anyone made homemade baby powder for nappy rash?
I've been told to use cornflour instead of baby talc, but then I looked at Green Baby's baby powder online and the only ingredients listed were arrowroot and lavender essential oil so I was guessing a box of arrowroot with a drop of lavender oil shook into it would do the trick?

I've heard that using dried skim-milk powder can be good for rashes too

Well I tried out the arrowroot last week and after a couple of days the nappy rash cleared up. :) Only thing I'd say is we were putting it on to get ds bone dry then brushing all the powder off, if we didn't make sure the powder was off where it was in the creases in his leg it would get damp and hold wetness there.

I did order corn flour with my groceries last week but got sent gritty maize flour instead! We got some cornflour from the supermarket but haven't used it because the arrowroot worked and I read somewhere (can't remember if it was this forum)that cornflour can make nappy rash worse if its thrush related I think.

Haven't heard the skim milk one before...
