Talcum power in nappies?

Postby Siddy+bump » Thu Jun 23, 2011 2:22 pm

Hi this is my very first post as I'm new to cloth nappies (only started using them last weekend). My son is nearly 16 months and I was wondering if it's ok to sprinkle some baby powder during each nappy change if your not using a liner? I know if you use cream you need to use a liner to protect the absorbency of the nappy but is this the same for talc too?
Thank you!

as far as I know, you shouldnt use talc on babies anyway, as they can breath in the powder :-? I dont use anything on my LO's bum and he has never had any nappy rash. just wipe up with a danp cloth wipe and either air dry or dry with a dry wipe.

If Jake is really sore and I want to make sure he is completely dry before using some cream on him, I use a non-talc based powder and use a light dusting, just to get into the many creases. I don't use any on a day-to-day basis and I don't generally use liners either. Jake's only had nappy rash because he's had 4 teeth come through in the last month :(
