Newbie addicted to cloth already! :)

Postby cazza1982_123 » Sat Aug 22, 2009 11:13 pm

Hi there,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I have a 7 week old son (on Monday!) and was looking into using cloth nappies when I was pregnant and bought a few second hand ones - totsbots (cotton and bamboo) and a little lamb. I also got given loads and loads of prefolds and some scary looking Kushies (which I've not actually used!). When my LO was first born I was given lots and lots of disposables and used these for the first few weeks. I then used one of the totsbots and it leaked so I gave up and carried on using up the last of the disposables we were given (probably my own fault it leaked but there you go).
It was only last week that I faced buying nappies myself and my mum encouraged me to have another go at the reusables which I did and I am now obsessed by them (and love the fact that I'm saving so much money and not throwing tons of nappies in the bin!).
My LO is growing at the rate of knots and last week weighed 14lb 8.5oz so I don't think its going to be long before he's out of the size 1's I've got so I am looking to get some more for when he's bigger but really not sure which to go for. Hopefully some time on this forum will help me make my mind up!
Oh well I've gone on but just to say hi and can't wait to get some good advice!
Cazza xx

hi there, good choices for your fitted nappies we use the same. Izzy is around 14 and a half pounds and still fits in her size 1 little lambs fine think we have a good couple of months left in them too so don't worry! We find its best to have a real mixture of different types of nappy, do you have any pockets? We used terry squares too which is a great option for newborns welcome to CNT its nearlly a year since i joined and i am fully ADDICTED now

Welcome to CNT!
i'm a cloth noob too, but i'm addicted before my LO has arrived! :giggle:

There loads of advice on here about the different types of nappies you can move onto as your little one grows, the classifieds will help you try out different types without breaking the bank - but beware it's addictive! :giggle:

Hello - thanks for the replies! Yes this cloth nappy thing is most certainly addictive! How my life has changed - this time last year I was working and socialising every weekend and now I'm a student with a baby, sitting in on a Saturday night breastfeeding and cutting up nappy liners out of fleece!!! Absolutely love it :)

I bought one pocket nappy which is a nature babies lovable - The lady did tell me that it would fit a baby up to about 14lbs (bought when I was pregnant and obviously had no idea how huge my LO was going to be and how fast he'd grow!) so I'm afraid he doesn't fit it now which is a shame - don't have any others apart from that - are they good?

I did also get some modern baby nappies (2 wraps, one prefold, one shaped pop in and a shaped nappy) through my local council scheme incentive as well and these nappies are really good although I haven't used the prefold one. The prefolds I was given have actually been really good - there are some old wraps called Nikky wraps. They're really soft and keep all the nasties inside although I have to build the nappy in a particular way - a shaped prefold then a folded prefold and a liner but it does work and is v absorbant.

OK you can tell I'm addicted lol! :hohoho: :hohoho:

Hiya
Welome to the tree :cnthug: and the crazy world of cloth nappies :giggle: :giggle: Kacie's 16lbs and still fitting well in her size 1 totsbots so you should get plenty of use out of them and the little lambs. I always feel dead smug when I walk past the rows and rows of sposies in the shop  :giggle:
