Our new feathered friends *UPDATED* page 2 end

I must be totally mad - 6 kids and now two hens and a cockerel!!!
I resisted for years the childrens call for a pet -but dh started to join in aswell and now here they are - at least they'll provide some food
They are Maran Hens and are supposed to lay eggs of a dark brown to mahogany colour - not yet ready to lay for a couple of months these are about 14 weeks old.

What kind of place do you live? An estate or in the country? We're thinking about getting some chickens but we live on an estate and are not sure the neighbours would be too happy

awww what lovely hens! Wish we had enough space outside to have a few - we had chickens when I was a child and they were lots of fun. I was one of 7 children too (tho probably only 6 of us at the time we had chickens), so don't worry - you'll survive!
