What kind of place do you live? An estate or in the country:(

Bit of both, we're on the edge of an estate but to the back and side of our rear garden is fields. The hens are quiet but the cockerel has started crowing though you need the windows open to hear him - for now. So dont iknow how long we'll have him for
There are lots of different breeds of hens if you look around bantams are smaller, different types lay different amounts of eggs aswell - ours should be about 200 each per year.

I'd rather hear them clucking than a dog barking all day cause its owners have gone out and left it.

Oooh MIL has hens and the hens get all the kitchen scraps - and the eggs are delicious!

They've now laid 4 eggs though they are only small - might bake a cake with em tomorrow.

They are all trained now. When they hear a whistle they come running up to you - the first time they did it they ran so fast i thought they were going to flatten me
