It is totally up to you what you do from here but if it were me and they were a very good price after a partial refund I would accept that. If you don't want them you could sell them on again, that way you would not be out of pocket on return postage as the new buyer would cover that.

Again, personally I wouldn't bother with a dispute unless it can't be resolved amicably between yourselves. I also would not expect a refund before the seller has received them back. She could argue that you might not send them back and then she would be out of pocket. Again keeping the nappies and having a partial refund would solve that prolem. It is a difficult situation. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I have seen other people mention that they have won PP dispute and had a refund without having to return the item but not sure on what circumstances these under.

Thanks for the advice guys, yes I agree the most sensible thing would be to keep them - I am actually itching to put them in the washing machine as don't like the thought of them sitting around not thoroughly clean, and they stink to high heaven of some perfumy washing powder/fabric softener which I can't stand the smell of!

I did want to avoid a dispute if possible, have never been in this situation before so wasn't sure what people usually do. I agree it's easier sorted between ourselves so will accept her refund and assuming that goes ok I have not come out of it too badly, and it will save me the drag of parcelling them back up & going to the post office.

Yes, paypal doesn't accept proof of postage, they will only accept proof of delivery. Have copied and pasted for the seller protection, but applies for returns as well.

I have recieved a refund from her but paypal has put a 'hold' on it for some reason, from what I can see it should clear in a few days though.

The seller apologised some more & offered to send me some baby clothes to make up for it. She was trying to get me not to leave neg feedback through bribery I think, I declined, would rather she refunded me more of the sale price lol! I wasn't going to leave neg feedback anyway, only neutral, as she did respond very quickly to all my messages, agreed to accept a return & offered a fair refund. I think maybe that's me being a bit too nice though, she should probably have had a neg really for trying to sell anything used as new. I did write in the comments that the nappies were used not new as described. She didn't exactly make anything from the sale after the refund, PP fees & postage anyway, only about £3, so hope she learns her lesson.

Yes the refund went through all fine, think paypal released it after 2 or 3 days. The nappies washed up quite nicely so I didn't really lose out in the end. I was upset initially as I'd paid more than they were worth pre-loved, but with the refund they were a reasonable price.

But it's something I will be aware of if I buy any nappies from ebay in future, think I would only bid pre-loved prices rather than taking a seller's word for it that they are new!

I bought some bumgenius nappies on ebay-it clearly said that the velcro strips on some were a bit dodge (fine by me for the price they were selling for) but when they arrived most of the elastics were totally gone. I worded my email to the seller saying that either a partial reund was in order or she could have the whole lot back, postage on top + negative feedback. I have to say that I thought the seller would have to pay the postage actually if the goods were not as described...?! Don't see why the buyer should be out of pocket!! The ladies are right here as well-always send items back tracked as well-proof of postage isnt accepted by paypal. Learned that one the hard way....

Yes it does seem wrong that the buyer should have to pay return postage if the goods are not as described - but I think it does say that in ebay's T&C's, unless you & the seller agree otherwise. Doesn't seem fair though, you only have the seller's listing to go on so you bid in good faith that they've given an accurate description. Did you get a partial refund for the bumgenius?

Yes I did thank you but initially the amount offered was too low. I did have to point out that in their current condition they couldn't be used from birth to potty as I had a newborn. I don't think she ever would have wanted them back though-the postage would have been almost £10 x
