Birth board preconceptions

I've never used a birth board and from what I've read here, I'm glad LOL. I'm so glad I have this place for all my mad, hippy, treehugging ways.

I didn't like to ask earlier 'cos felt stupid, but what is a birth board exactly? I'd never heard the expression until earlier! I guessed it was a forum kinda like this one but just about birth, is that right??

It's just (afaik) a section of a forum, or even just a single giant thread in some cases, dedicated specifically to ladies who are due at a particular time. I.e. everyone due in Sept this year could have their own board to chat about whatever they wanted. The huge megaforums do it most I think, ones where you could have maybe 50 or a hundred women due in a particular month.

Yep that's pretty much what it is. You'll usually find it babycenter that most are talking about. They can get very catty!

aah thanks, I get it now - have seen them, now it's been explained I know what everyone's talking about! I have looked at them but never felt compelled to join I must say.

I think people need to justify their choice not to use cloth so they do it down. If you say "it's not hard, but you don't need to justify your decision to use disposables to me" that usually shuts them up.
