Hello all im new to cloth nappy tree, thought id introduce myself properly, sorry ive already posted a Q. bad manners sorry.
Im Stephanie mum to 3 boys Josh 6, Marley 3, and Chenise 19m also 12w pregant.

Im using MEOS and rikki wraps and have a selction of pockets that dont really work very well for me. Wonderoos, Swaddlebbes econappi, Im not really sure whats the problem i use hemp inserts with a bamboo square folded in thirds on top. They seem to wet loads at the front them wick/leak at top sides.

Im thinking she needs new nappies or very absorbant ones. I love my pockets just cant find any that work atm.

I wash at 40, use tesco own brand non bio, change every 3-4h ive just striped my nappies of excess detergent. but non really helping. Recently tried out wool longies as its a pain with wicking all the time even in fitted.

Thats me love to get to know everyone better.

dont apologise for asking questions - it helps to get us all thinking

i think i may have read that bamboo and hemp absorb fluid more slowly than cotton or microfibre. so it may be an idea to try a different combination of inserts.
i've not tried bamboo, but i do like to microfibre(for speed of absorbancy) with hemp (for quantinty of absorbancy/slimness) together.

Are the nappies a snug fit on legs/tummy?
is clothing tight? eg vests can cause leaks if they're on the snug side
is nappy leaking where waist band on pants causes pressure?

Hope you get things sorted, and all goes well with pg. :coolbaby:

Hello, Steph.

Hope you have managed to sort something out and are making it work for you guys.

I am JOnny, mum to two boys, Jaime just short of three, and Lucas just turned one. We are part-time in cloth (dh and childminder don't want the faff and bother     ), but I have found that microfibre over hemp or bamboo or cotton works well for us...

Good luck trying things out. xxx Jonny

Hello and welcome, I'm Rae and have 2 year old Kayleigh in cloth at night (as she has potty trained).

About your question, I'm not really sure what to suggest. We use to get wicking at the top of nappies at nights, as Kayleigh was a front sleeper. The only way we got round this was by using a rikki wrap over fitteds. We never got on well with wonderoos, they were just sat akwardly and then ended up gaping.
You might get on well with an iish fly (its an all in two), as they have an extra pad (made on bamboo) that poppers to the top front of the nappy. With the minkee ones you'll get less wicking than with the cord ones. Good luck.

Hi!
I've not been on for a while, but welcome!
My favorite pockets have been p'tits dessous mini-maxis for aaaages. They're one size, and in a way similar to Wonderoos, but they have a much longer rise allowance, and they don't have that frill than Wonderoos have, which can cause wicking. They just seem to fit better. I like bamboo inserts, and the most absorbent one I've tried is the Babeco Bamboo night time pad. It takes ages to dry, but it's REALLY absorbent.

Hope you find the right combo anyway!
