I don't think I'll be much help, really. I had that fabric in such a tiny nappy, that it can't really compare. I didn't find it ever wicked or anything, though. The velboa doesn't wear as well as minky though - the black on the cow print started to develop white bobbles with repeated washing - so it can look tired relatively quickly.
