regarding antibacterial properties of bamboo, does this mean babies shouldn't ever get an infected nappy rash if they were wearing 100% bamboo nappies? :giggle: Don't suppose such a thing is possible, but was an interesting (midnight) thought! :hohoho:

hmm intresting thought!!! I think that it inhibits rather than kills bacteria's and moulds, resulting in a cleaner, and then less smelly nappy also due to its deodorising abilities and the obvious lack of dwelling bacteria. Maybe because of that your much less likely to get sore bums as a result of bacteria, but not less likely due to any PH change on the surface when urine and poo are present. I use a silver thing a few times day, because its antimicrobial, which i think lies the difference, it kills on contact and inhibits growth too. I know you can get silver impregnated sheets. Its being used in alot of fabrics now .. maybe silver woven into bamboo fabric will be our *thing* in a few yrs time!
Silk is also good for sore bums.. .. silver in silk.. woiuld be even shinier!! :giggle: £££££££££££££££! i bet too!!

Well, actually we never get nappy rash anyway (thankfully!). But I change nappies quite frequently *and* wash nappies every day - so maybe that helps!

Most nappy fabrics aren't 100% bamboo though - they're usually mixed with polyester... :?
At least bamboo terry is anyway...

Anyone know what the bamboo percentages in bamboo fleece and bamboo velour are before I go google it?

I think it varies slightly depending where you buy it from but BV is usually 70% bamboo 28% cotton 2% polyester, bamboo terry and bamboo fleece are 70% bamboo 30% cotton.

This month I have three differnt bamboo terries,
one is 100% bamboo.. it is a gorgfeous undyed long pile toweling fabric... not cut it up yet!!!!!!! only got 5 metres of it!!
one is 55% with 45% cotton which I use for boosters generally as I can do into three layers not too thick , but still loads of absorbancy, and it dries thequickest.
and the other is 95 bamboo with 5% poly - dries tooo slow for a double or triple booster, I use if for making flats.

my bamboo fleece this time is 80/20 but last time was 70/30

My velour is 90 bamboo 5 cotton and 5% poly - undyed
other one is 90 8 and 2 - pale yellow...

thats just the bamboo!!!!!!
