Whats a good swimming nappy?

A 'happy nappy' over a normal disposable swim nappy - they're bombproof and the only one some swimming schools for babies will allow.

A wrap or a pocket with no stuffing works well!

We always had to use the Happy Nappy for swimming lessons and they are very good. We didn't use the disposable ones underneath though - they just say you have to use 2 swim nappies which for most people is the disp one but instead for Ben I use an Imse Vimse one http://www.babykind.co.uk/swimnappies.htm they work great and have a popper so that they can be easily removed if they do have a messy accident! Or I have also used the Motherease ones which are good too.

I've been using Huggies Little Swimmers under a Splash About Happy Nappy, but Tots Bots have just brought out a swim nappy and I really love it, great fit on DD so now I use that under the Happy Nappy. If it's for a baby as opposed to a toddler I would also recommend getting a wetsuit because it will greatly increase their enjoyment in the pool. DD turned 6 months today and up until last week she has been swimming in a long sleeved wetsuit with a wrap over the top, both items by Splash About. HTH

We use a nature babies stuffable without its stuffing - works a treat!

Before that we had a number from JoJoMamanBebe, Mothercare and Boots, which all worked very well too but they were pull up and down ones. The problem with them is when they poo - bleugh....

I'm a Baby swim specialist teacher, and without a doubt the best swim nappy is the Popolino (Motherease) one (They are the same, but Popolino are made in Europe under licence to ME, and they are cheaper). These are front fastening, so if they get filled they are easy to remove. They are lightweight and pretty, with lots of lovely prints. They are very adjustable - large size will fit from around 6 months through to a good 2 year old. They wear well, and as they popper open, there is no velcro to catch on baby's tummy, or wear out in the chlorine. If you want a stockist please PM me!

Whatever you do, don't buy pull up swim pants - if they are filled, they are a nightmare to remove from a wet baby, especially as the chances are you will be wet as well!!

We've been taking DD swimming since she was tiny and have always found the Motherease Swim Nappy really good. She also wears a baby wetsuit as well as our local pool is usually pretty cold. She's actually using my wee boy's old swim nappies so they last really well!!
