Drying cloth nappies on radiators?

Postby JennyPenny » Sat Mar 28, 2009 9:01 pm

Hello. Just wondering what fabrics would be ok on a radiator? I am just having problems with waiting for night nappies to dry mainly, but I don't really want to buy more (IF we get on well with the ones we have got) because once our new baby is here we will probably be washing everyday so will be less of a problem and that is not long away at all.

I know certain fabrics turn very hard if dried on a radiator but wasn't sure which ones? My UDNN is french soy and it so far has been so soft all the time it feels like it would be ok but I am too scare to risk it before checking it is ok as it is brand new!

But would like to know about all fabrics in geneeral if possible as we have just about every nappy material I think.

Thank you - you have all been so helpful!

As far as I know, microfibre is OK, hemp will turn super-hard, and bamboo is a definite no-no as the heat cooks it and it gradually starts to break down.

I dry all my boosters on my radiator but I put a towel on the radiator first and then the boosters on top of that so they're not on direct heat. Haven't had any problems yet with either the hemp or bamboo ones.

I tend to line dry for a bit if possible or hand on the airer then radiator dry everything and not had any problems then I either give the hemp things a rub to soften then or put them in the tumble for a few mins while still vaguely damp.
Our UN NN is french soy and it has been fine on the radiator
