Chelle, IMO, there is no harm in Lyra having a bottle longer, BUT the sooner you take it away the easier it will be, though I know Summer won't be willing to give up her bottle at 1, where as Jak had his last bottle on his first birthday, and never bothered again, and with his dummy, we took it away at 22 months and her was fine, it really depends on the child, but I think taking things away earlier is easier, as they have less opinion on the matter IYKWIM!
I totally agree with Hanna, drives me nuts when ppl, however well meaning, dont back off and think they're right so u must do as hey say. I think u're being very clam about it - something which i am not very good at lol
Hanna - I agree, I just hate being told what to do pmsl!!
Lyra is already showing signs she doesn't want her bottle, often dropping her mid day feed, which is fine. She's doing really well with her TT 'kids on the go' cup, she just used to shake the nuby cup not knowing what to do with it lol. I'm hoping by the time she;s 1 she'll be on a night time bottle only and then gradually wean her off it - I know it's far kinder for her and her teeth. Am also planning on dropping her dummy after 1, again she only uses it for naps and at night - and often it ends up on the floor by morning lol.
