Newborn nappy suggestions please

Ok, so I'm a bit ahead of myself here, with another 21wks to go, but I thought I'd better start researching sooner rather than later! :D

With Connor we used prefolds at the start, and tolerated the leaky poo for a few months. But eventually I'd had enough and moved on to eco-dispos. At the time I was very ignorant of the other types of nappies available, plus dh didn't want to spend any more money on nappies (although weirdly was ok with buying dispos every week  ). Thankfully my cousin passed on some MEOS and a friend lent me a bamboozle to try, and we got Connor back into cloth.

But it means I don't have any newborn sized nappies. Recommendations welcome!

Bimbles bimbles bimbles

I believe they do a bamboo version now too :D :D

Oh cute little tiny nappies, lucky you :D

I think I would also try a small or xs fuzzi, didn't get into pockets till Georgia was a bit bigger but I think they would be good on a littley :D

I've been a bit scared off from pockets as I tried Connor with fuzzis a few months ago and they wicked very quickly. To be fair, he can wee for England, but it made me wonder how they cope with explosive newborn poo? Think I'd feel more confident with a two-part.

I'd go for bimbles, tots size 1 and swaddlebees OV :D

Mother-ease rikkis are fab on newborns too :D

Or what about a blueberry newborn fitted blueberrydiapers.com/products/Fitted_Diapers/nb

ooooh newborn nappies! Now just to say Zac was 8lb 13oz so not tiny and he also is quite long so my experience may not be typical. We mostly use shaped nappies on Zac.

We had some nature babies diddy diapers (nippa fastening) which were great, really cute and trim fitting. Good value too. He outgrew these in rise by 10 weeks old (still loads of waist)

We had some size 0 Easy Peasy Bambeasies which would not go round him after 2 weeks! I also had a lovely newborn swaddlebees which would not fit him when he was born even though it was supposed to fit 14lb. :( However we have some mediums which fit well from about 8 weeks.

His tots bots size 1 fit from birth until about 4 months. Sold the bamboozles though - couldn't get a good fit with the applix.

Motherease Sandy's small still fit well and although boring are really reliable.

Kissaluvs size 1 fit well from 6 weeks until he outgrew them in the rise at 4 months.

Easy Peasy Bimbles size 1 fit from about 6 weeks and fit well now.

He wore small motherease rikkis for the first 4 weeks although I would have preferred airflows. From 4 weeks he went into motherease airflow mediums and is still in those now with loads of room.

So we had no need for anything XS and small/ size 0 stuff was outgrown really fast.

Hope that major piece of rambling helped.

Thanks Katie, sounds like you had plenty of trial and error, which is what I'm hoping to avoid as much as possible! Connor was 8lb 4oz, it's too early to tell of course, but I'm assuming this one will be about the same, so perhaps teensy tiny nappies won't be required!
Thanks for the 'rambling', plenty to think about already, and have only had a couple of opinions so far

Hi Amanda,

I can only tell you what I have ready as I am still waiting to use them

I got 16 bamboo terry 40 x 40 cm squares from babeco (the white / bleached ones seem to retain their shape better than the unbleached) I also use these for boosting the toddler bg's and they will be handy for various other bits and bobs, prob inc spit up cloths!

I got 1 size 0 bimble (popper), 1 micro diddy (nippa), 1 diddy diaper (nip)

And 4 nb prefolds. I also have 4 nb bummis wraps, 3 size 1 bummis / cotton bottoms and 2 XS rikki.

For the slightly bigger size I am going to be using 2 bumbles, 1 bambeasy, swaddlebees OVOS, MEOS and little lambs size 1 and bg's oh and 2 small fuzzis.

I am starting to think teeny tiny nappies wont be required for long with this one too if they have guessed the weight right at the last scan (5lbs 1) just before 32 weeks.

Charlotte was deprived until about 3 months - we only had MEOS and ME Rikki wraps. They worked fine but this time I am gonna get some cute little ones.

So far I have a bimble, diddy diaper and a swaddlebees OV in my demo kit but I think I will get a few more bimbles and maybe bambeasys. Then I am going to try a Fuzzi (might wait until it arrives to determine xs or small) and a small pocket bot.

I think that should be enough as I then have loads of bumgenius and other onesize nappies. But I have a feeling it won't be that easy to stop
