worried about the effects of washing nappies

South East Queensland (where I live) is in the middle of a drought were up to level 5 water restrictions and I was starting to feel a little guilty about the extra water I use to wash my cloth. I was doing a little research and came across this info which made me feel heaps better and is yet another reason to love cloth!!

Myth: Reusable nappies take a lot of water to wash and this is bad for the drought.

Reality: Disposable nappies are manufactured in Australia, in drought-affected areas - and disposable nappies have 2.3 times the water impact compared to washing cloth nappies. The water you see isn't the only water you use - think beyond your own backyard!

Also consider how many outfits you would have to wash if your baby was in leaky disposables

Also, someone mentioned recently about the fact that when disposables go to landfill they can continue to absorb liquid, thereby effectively locking away water from the land in those nasty little crystals.

Don't know how much of an impact this would have but sounds good anyway.
