toxic poo??

Sorry for TMI but Lili did a really acidic poo today in a lovely new (to us) nappy with a dyed OBV inner, and when I rinsed it off it looked like the colour had actually bleached out in parts . I've had preloved nappies before and seen others FSOT that had bleached-out bits on coloured inners/soakers but assumed it was from washing accidents... can it be that poo can actually take out dye?? Noooo!!

Ted has done the same to a few times. Lots of sun has helped. His dino GM was particularly bad, but it went on holiday to Eygpt with my lovely step-mom and it has arrived home looking as good as new :D

Luckily she's as loopy as me so didn't bat an eyelid when I asked her to take it, and took it sunbathing with her everyday :giggle:

:giggle: Was it just stains or bleaching of the dye though? I don't have high hopes for even the sun's magic :-?.

She's been eating lots of sweetcorn and fruit by the tonne, I swear I spend half my day scrubbing at blackberry/plum/etc. stains on her clothes! Also getting her last molar, so it may be that.

WHEW - I've just washed the nappy and it looks OK! Maybe a touch lighter around the edges but nothing like as bad as I'd feared, barely noticeable.

So ARE what look like bleach stains on dark inners likely to be caused by washing with bleach, or could it still be toxic poo? Inquiring minds would like to know. :crossbaby:

I have never had a poo take the colour out of a nappy but that's not to say it doesn't happen. I find that when they are teething the poo becomes very acidic usually giving them a terrible sore red bum almost as though it has been "burned" by the acid in the poo.

Not sure - I know DH's sweat can bleach things...

Grace's wee is terrible when she's been eating broccoli but it's mainly on old hemp inserts... But even a day in the sunshine hasn't done anything for them really :? :( They are quite old and worn though so I guess some inserts have a finite life-span...
