help/advice before i give up

Postby fleur08 » Sat Sep 19, 2009 7:17 pm

hi ladies,
i need help please.

em's been in sposies for 10 days to clear up bad nappy rash -worked a treat within hours i saw an improvement.

put her back in cloth last night, and changed every 2 hours today - damp nappys but not soaked & not left in poo either, then at 5.30 started screaming house down, took her nappy off & it was bright red, hot to touch & very sore.
all nappys were stripped last week and rinsed so no bubbles left.

im at the end of my teather, i need to get this sorted or im going to give up as i cant bear to see her bum get bad again, she had bleeding ulcered bits last time. :(
the h.v thought it was a reaction to washing powder, possibly, but begining to think it unlikely.

the nappys dont smell of amonia when taken off but a full nappy bucket does smell pretty strongly.
shes teething ,which i know doesnt help, but surely it cant be solely down to that?
its been on and off since june.
any ideas, please !

What temperature do you wash at...

Do you use fleece or minkee (i.e. stay dry) liners?

And teething really can be hell on bums...

What's your normal wash routine?

Are the nappies fleece lined or do you use fleece liners? Is she the same with or without fleece?

Some babies can react badly to fleece or it prevents others from getting a rash by keeping their bums dry.

Do you use paper liners? These cause a problem for Blake as they really make poop stick to his bum.

Have you tried using wool wraps too? They let the air in and let the bum breathe :giggle:

I hear good things about silk liners, too.
Maybe it's worth a try just getting like a little 10 wash box of something for sensitive skin and trying it out?

Have you tried a barrier cream? I like Angel Baby Bottom Balm as a day-to-day barrier, as it's mainly olive oil so kind to skin:

right 60 o wash, bold 2 in 1 & xtra rinses.
fleece lined nappys, mainly pockets but some fitteds & wool.
sometimes paper liners if im using metanium or vaseline.
got 2 silver liners which help nighttime.
