oooh you beat me to it! Although I called up the council and they offer a trial kit. So I phoned for that, and they said they were posting a few different ones for me to try. 4 weeks later they called and asked if I was still interested in the trial kit I'd already bought several different ones by this point!

used to be a £30 cashback but by the time i found out about it and got / filled in the form i found out they had scrapped it die to no funding....bu£"$%%^ if you ask me!

There is a lovely lovely 'nappy lady' in worcester , she runs a natural baby shop , which has a big nappy selection , she is fantastic and has run it for about 4 years now , has a website too , and does nappacino's etc , she worked so bloody hard to get cloth well known here and did a fantastic job , organised and run nappy catwalks , then the council did this to her - needless to say she is NOT impressed and is going to fight them to get the scheme , not sure she'll get anywhere though but it makes me so angry , they bang on about recycling yet theyre happy for 1000's of shitty dispos to go to the landfill each week

I need to fill in my incentive thing for the Leeds one - didn't get anything when we were in Manchester - though that was 5 years ago now - some things are changing for the better!

And I always make sure Miss C is wearing nice nappies and wool whenever I go anywhere to try to promote cloth

Most people still think you're mad though and the council discounts are a bit half hearted so they give the impression that it's not really worth doing IYSWIM If they were a bit moer positive they might persuade a few more people.

I offered to put together a real nappy pack for the health visitor to loan out (from some of the nappies I don't use anymore) and she said she didn't think she would be allowed to promote real nappies as it would be seen as advertising I have thought about pursuing it - I'm sure she would be allowed but too much to do!!

well ladies. am glad i started this thread as it seems i am deffo not alone. i think its such a shame as there are soooo many fab and gorgeous cloth nappies out there that most people know nothing about. my main reason for trying cloth was because we had 4 house cats (i had two, then i met mike who had two so we moved in together and ended up with the four of them, one of mine passed away sadly on mothers day this year so we now have 3) not ideal i know and they cause me a lot of extra work but it is how it is ....anyway because we had 4 house cats it means our bin gets too heavy as it is filled with bagged up used cat litter and as our bins are only emptied every two weeks i was freaking out because i knew we wouldnt have room in the bin for 2 weeks worth of disposable nappies too plus it would then become too heavy and the bin men wouldnt empty it. so that was my main reason. i started reserching and so the addiction began lol. i wish i could have used them when rienna was a baby but 11 years ago there realy wasnt the choice that there is now also i was about to become a single parent so i just couldt afford to buy cloth nappies at that point. the nappies i have bought for ethan have mailnly been preloved....i think there is something so lovely about a preloved nappy (dont ask me why) some i bought wasnt right for us, some have been great and i am sure i will continue to try new ones but thats the fun of it. also because we know we want to try for another baby when ethan is about 1 year old everything i have in my collection will get used again on baby number 3 and then if they are still in good condition i will sell them on too and hopefully they will be used again. while we have spent a lot on the cloth nappies it means that when baby mumber 3 comes along i wont have to buy anymore (yeah right!) lol it is more cost effective in the long run and i wish i had the time, and the nappy collection to be able to run my own cloth nappy roadshows around peterborough (alas i cant drive either).
My friends look at me like i am crazy for using cloth nappies but i am absolutly in love with them and i wish more peopke out there could have the information more readily available to them. I will be contacting my local council but i dont hold out much hope of them doing anything more to promote cloth nappies. its a shame they cant look at the bigger picture instead of the financial here and nows. it doesnt help that our county council is one of the most corrupt councils when it comes to finances and public money going missing.

Hello everyone

Just to let you know that many councils across the country are very poor at 'spreading the word' as far as real nappies are concerned. However, both Swindon BC and Wiltshire are really good. They fund a post for a part-time person, have access to free trial kits, money back scheme for up to £30, attend events and are really pro-active. If any of you would like further info about how to go about getting other councils involved, let me know.
