There are patterns out there, too, for making longies out of recycled wool jumpers. It's on my list of things to do to try it out this week, so will let you know.

Oh yes, bottom jumpers are a great idea.

I don't think it gets too whiffy, I find fleece just as effective as wool and and it is cheap as well. x

I never got on with fleece wraps, for that reason - that said, Tykie wraps are fleece lined and I was worried they'd be one use only, but I find they don't get whiffy unless the nappy is either saturated or dirty - usually I can use them several times before washing them.

I've been meaning to ask about flongies... Lili has a couple of pairs of fleece trousers that I've bought as, you know, trousers. Is there anything special about flongies that makes them flongies rather than just trousers (say, made from windpro rather than regular microfleece?), or can I just keep an eye out for fleece trousers in the sales and pay a fraction the price?

I have wool interlock shorts and now some longies and they are great - I find them more reliable than knitted wool so definately worth a try

Oh yes, but was going to say that of course fleece dries really quickly so even if you do have to wash them after every use, they are dry again within hours - unlike wool

It is a great advanatge, they're practically dry when they come out of the machine.

I guess any fleece trousers would do. Obviously the thinner the fabric the more prone to compression wicking it will be. My flongies also have an extra layer in the wetzone.

Some flongies have a soaker sewn inside to make them more reliable. But I imagine any thick fleece trousers would do
