I have a Mothercare Smart Nappy

A very nice lady on BC had 20 of these sent to her to trial for Mothercare so when I posted on there a while back that I would be interested to try one out she offered to send me one. Well as I say it was some time ago and I assumed she had changed her mind but it turned up yesterday :D

It looks very much like a weenee or gDiaper but is front fastening and the pouch doesn't come out. The insert looks quite good, it is in three sections with one of the quilted.

So we will be giving it a proper trial tomorrow and will let you know what we think.

Shame they are white though!

I have two of these inserts and they are really good. They're perfect for trim nappies like pocket bots and upsy daisie

It will be interesting to see how you get on Annette. I can't get mine to work at all. I got a trial pack for Zac and despite him being well into the weight range for the mediums he really needs there to be a crossover tab on the waist. They look and feel nicer than I expected.

The first time he wore it it wicked round the leg binding in about an hour. The second time he pooed in it and that had wicked out of the leg binding before I got his clothes off. :? :? :? I'm just not used to poo leaks with cloth.

I do like the inserts though and use them to boost night nappies mostly.

Mmmm that is interesting. Will see how we get on. We have a large and they do seem very big - certainly bigger than my gDiapers so will let you know what the fit is like and whether we get any wicking.

I had a look at them in Mothercare a while ago, the inserts looked good. I would have bought them if they had large but they didn't stock them :?

Oh Dear. It was a TOTAL disaster. Now we never really have problems with nappies. Even cotton print pockets are fine for us but this was terrible.

Firstly they are huge - the large says 20-30lbs. Now Charlotte is around 28lbs and the tabs meet in the middle, in fact I think I could cross them over if they had cross over tabs but they don't. Don't know what these would be like on a smaller, skinnier baby. The insert seemed interesting but I think is too small and too slim.

I put it on Charlotte when she got up from her nap at 4pm. Around 4.30pm she had her dinner and when I picked her up there was a huge wet patch - not just wicking, leaking!!

I am thinking the fit was poor and she just weed out of the sides.

What was funny was that Charlotte insisted on finishing her dinner on Mark's lap and he got very very wet!!

I will give them another go, perhaps with a pre-fold in it like I do with my g's but I am not holding out much hope.

Glad it isn't just me.
They are just cut way too big and really need a cross-over tab on the waist and some better elastic and some more absorbant inserts. It just doesn't work. :( It's a shame because it is great that people could find more cloth choice on the high street. I think though that these might actually put people off cloth after trying them - which is a scary thought.

I hope these don't turn out like Bambino Mios and put people off cloth.

I think the sizing has got to be wrong as the concept seems fine and I get on well with gDiapers.

Will let you know how I get on with one last try.
