We always wash nappies at 60, just cos then I know they are totally clean and that would kill anything off that could possibly be lurking. The only time we had a bad rash was when using PUL wraps. Then if we put a minkee or fleece liner as the inner layer the rash stopped. Think it was either the washing powder or her bath stuff or just the wetness. Once we started using wool the rash went completely and we didn't need the liners anymore. She's had a few spots this past week, but with metanium it clears right up and nothing like the bigger white blisters she had before. Any time there is any redness I put her in fitted nappies and use wool during the day then as well instead of our usual pockets.

thankyou for your replys, i cut my own fleece liners so it completly covers my ds bits and bum etc, sorry if this is a silly question but isnt washing on 60 dearer than on 30/40? my bills just seem higher these last few months :-? and obviously its only the water and electric that iv used more, why do sposies have to be so ugly and bad for the environment!!!! :(

Your bills will probably be higher because your energy company has raised its prices (again).

TBH, the different in cost and to the environment between washing at 40º and washing at 60º is far less than detergent manufactures would have you believe. Most of them are producing products that contain ingredients that contaminate the water table which costs taxpayers over £40,000,000 a year to clean up. They want to come across as being eco-friendly and cheap because that's what sells in the current climate and this is how they spin it. It's a huge marketing con. They don't want to invest in making their products or manufacturing process genuinely more eco-friendly and they don't want to lose any profits, so they try to pass the responsibility onto their customers. Using smaller amounts of an eco-friendly detergent (soapnuts, eco-balls etc.) which has been ethically and sustainably produced and can be composted is both cheaper and better for the environment than washing at a lower temperature with Ariel etc. (Also bear in mind that frequent washing at low temperatures can actually damage your washing machine.)

If it's not going away have you taken him to the doctors to get some anti fungal cream as that sounds like an infectious rash/thrush rather than just plain old nappy rash which should usually clear up in a day or so with cream/nappy free time etc.

If it was me i'd get a dr to have a look before giving up cloth.i think anything fungal would be better in sposies as they keep the skin drier.
