Newborn cloth q's....

Postby clarge » Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:21 pm

Right, my newborn cloth stash is well underway already but, realistically how many nappies/wraps etc will i need for those first few weeks?

I have about 20 fitteds so far, a selection inc. SBOV nb, bimbles, diddy daipers, xs sandys, sz 1 LL, a thirsty or 2, couple off HC etc etc.... i have 2 nb soakers too, all is preloved off here. I know i'll need more wraps/soakers, but how many? Have a new soaker en route from TNG too... Want a couple PUL for longer journeys, have been recommended WN's ones. Worth nb, or small?

Will get more size 1's and pockets after the nb start getting small.... just need an idea of qty's..... will prob wash daily as will have 2 in cloth so will prob need 2 days worth to allow for drying times.

Thanks - oh and any more recommendations welcome for size ones as i started at 12 months with dylan...

I would get some motherease rikkis for bomb proofness in those first few weeks! Weenotions covers are lush too - maybe two of each should be fine.

I would go for some quick drying nappies - fleece ones like lollipop micro or softee - just so you're not waiting for stuff to dry. Can't think atm who else does fleece nappies! Expect there are loads.

If I was buying again I would get some cool stuff from puddlekins too! :giggle: TNG and Jabula have gorgeous stuff too :giggle: I know this as have been hunting for a secret santa pressie today!

Have you got washable wipes and a wet bag? Dare I say you could get a monkeyfoot one   :giggle:

I already have washable wipes etc, just stocking up on a few more, already have a 17 month old in cloth so well stocked on sundries like liners etc...

Have just enquired about a few nature babies wraps and cotton bottoms, real cheap in the classifieds. Not wanting to spend much money on NB nappies, will wait for size 1's for that! :-)

May get 1 nice one, maybe a personalised one for babies first nappy....

I really liked thirsties, sandies (i had xs and small) and newborn prefolds when kieren was teeny tiny :)

ETA, i changed his nappy between 15-20 times in a 24 hour period...everytime he BF he would need changing!

I would personally stay clear of cotton bottoms covers - nature babies are okay - rikkis would be better.

XS sandys, XS weenotions, small itti bitti are good too.

I agree you need a few more wraps/soakers, but if I'd had that many nappies when J was newborn, I would have had enough to wash every other day.

I think i may get a few more size 1's maybe LL, then i can use them with a nippa early on and will fit longer....

We have 6 NB wraps and 5 size 1 wraps we used 10 ll and 12 terry squares, that seemed to be a good quantity with little miss having :bf: and lots of soiled/wet nappies
