Washing pre-loved nappies

Postby Shaunie » Mon Dec 21, 2009 12:37 pm

Just thinking about pre-loved nappies & wondering if many people wash them themselves before using on their LO?

I do, not sure why because they have always arrived smelling very clean.

I nearly always wash them first, unless I'm so excited about getting Oliver in it! Kate x

Well I sometimes do - depends how desperate I am to try it out or if I'd have to wait too long for it to be washed & dried :giggle:

How-ever, last night I put Isaac in a pre-loved WNNN that I hadn't washed & he was sooooo sore this monring  on his scrotum which is the place he gets sore if he's going to. The nappy smelt so bad, it made me wince and had to turn away from it until I could fling it across onto the kitchen floor  because I could barely breathe :drama:

This could be down to teething as I recognise the strong pee smell or I guess the nappy could need stripping, or like Dawnsmummy said, it could be the wash powder. My gut instinct says teething / nappy needs stripping.

I feel like a very neglectful Mum today & will always wash pre-loved nappies from now on. LO is in an eco-sposie today though so I could smother him in cream. Thankfully he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort so that's good

WTS :giggle: I do generally wash before use, though.
