Cloth Nappy Tree Forum

Our nursery nappies are nearly all aplix pockets (BGs, Happy Heineys, Drybees). I think these are the easiest ones for anyone to put on and we haven't had many issues so far. Only problem is Nell has to wear trousers (or dresses with tights) otherwise she'll undo the aplix

I've also sent in side-snap pockets (Neppula, Fuzzis, BBSS, home-made BBSS alikes) and nursery have done ok with those too, but sometimes they don't do them up on a tight enough snap set which can cause a bit of leakage.

To their credit, all the staff at Nells nursey have been really good at using whatever we have sent nappy-wise. It's good experience for them anyway - it might inspire some of them to consider using cloth for their own kids once they see how lovely they are

Im a nursery nurse and honstly they just probably havnt come accross them before and there are alot of different types before I had either of my kids We had a baby come to nursery in bambino mio prefolds and i was horrified...couldnt get my head around them at all but i did with practice and went on to use cloth on both my children If you show them they will pick it up fast! At least they are willing to learn

Thanks Megansmummy, I am grateful that they are willing to try, I just presumed everyone would be as mad about cloth as me and that they'd be used to them! Even my health visitor commented on how cute Ewan's blue polka dot itti was and said she'd never seen such cute nappies before....I then bored her to death by telling her all the other different pattern nappies I have and how easy they are. Think she wished she'd never mentioned it by the time I'd finished!!!!

Bambooty is the easiest thing for Daddy to use and he can do itti's he struggles with WNOS and un poppers the rise settings and they leak he can't do side snap fitteds........... he is dong half the childcare and nursery the other half when I go back to work so I have made him a nappy to try an AI1 type simular to a bambooty using velcro he did well put it on and nappy lasted until a poop all in about 4 hours same as our bambooty does so i will be making a few more of those and getting easier fitteds to use with a wrap,
im dreading nursery not getting on with them tho!

Thank goodness for CNT. I've had that a few times with people when they look at Max's nappies all curious and when I start to enthusiastically talk about cloth I can see their eyes slowly glaze over and they start giving me that "oh no I'm talking with a madwoman" look

So glad its not just me....thats the exact same look my husband gives me when I tell him I've had some more nappies delivered. Have given up telling him now and am just stashing them in the airing cupboard. Saw him looking quizically at some which were drying on the airer yesterday though so think I may have been rumbled

I did a few of the Diy Nappy kits when I was pg, they are not perfect but they do the job! still practicing my latest one is my fav tho,
I love all my nappies and can talk about them for hours! I made my mum poke the minkee in one of our WNOS (a wet one) once so she could see they were stay dry she looked at me like I was crazy!

I always sent wonderoos to nursery with no probs.

DH used to always use wonderoos too. He now prefers motherease bamboo sandys with a stacinator or lovebums wrap (the ones with fleece cuffs) - he knows they definitely won't leave red marks or leak. He also really likes our snugglebots fleece soaker - I have just ordered another for him to use. (He did have a habit of putting ME airflows on far too tight on Blake's chubby thighs)

I sent Max to his grandparents with 5 flexi-tots and a wrap today and his gran coped fine. I actually felt sorry for her when I went to collect him as he had obviously just done a big smelly poo. The smell was pretty and she was sat on the floor with a dirty nappy, writhing baby, wet wipes everywhere struggling to get him into a clean nappy. I could almost hear her shouting "why can't I use a sposie"

Bless her. She does seem to be trying so hard.
