Odd Q about pee staining inserts?!?

Postby peachy.moo » Mon Mar 08, 2010 1:23 pm

Ok, so not NORMAL pee stains....

A while back, mum left one of Elsie's very wet Itti's in the bath, when i went back to it, the inserts had gone BLACK!!

I don't mean mold as i mean went in & found it that afternoon....

Hadn't happened for ages, although has happened to a couple of her inserts & i can't get them clean again... :(

Anyway just went to put the washing on, nappies for past 24 hrs, so night nappy from Sat night included, & the insert from that has gone BLACK!!!!!

Can anyone help?!? Is there something i'm doing, or could there actually be something wrong with Elsie?!?

Don't think i could cope if she has more issues....

Had she had Calpol before wearing those nappies? That stains inserts, colours range from purple to brown to black.

I've never heard of them going black. Some people have had issues with purple staining due to Calpol and other medicines - could it be that?

Also, if it did happen from Calpol (think it was Panadol she had) would it happen everytime..?

Thanks if anyone can shed more light on what might have caused it or how to get rid of the stains!!

Calpol, blueberries, brocolli and various other foods can do this as do various medicines including losec...

This has happened to us recently, luckily it was only a MEOS and boosters. I had used it overnight cos all his NN were in the wash so it was quite saturated with urine but nothing else.He is teething and so in the night i had used a paracetamol suppository ,he wont take oral medi :crossbaby: .
The whole nappy and boosters have gone a really dark brown and no amount of soaking or washing will shift it.Thankfully his lovely bedbugs were not available otherwise i may have shed a tear or two
