I don't think I'd be game to wash my nappies in a laundrette  I'd be scared they might damage them.

Maybe cut a fleece blanket in to super large liners that will catch all the poo and you can throw that out each poo so there wont be any chance of getting any in the machine? Might make her a little less cringy

:giggle: no I am sure we don't think you aren't thinking that you expect your aunt to wash the nappies  I think the general feeling is that there shouldn't be a problem with you using the machine for your laundry, especially when you are going for a week, a weeks worth of packing would end up looking like a months worth with 2 children and yourself if you weren't able to do washing :giggle:

That's a good idea. Might give that a try.

She probably won't have a problem with me washing the nappies. I just want to be prepared just in case. I suppose if push comes to shove she has 4 sons I grew up with, that all live near her, that I can bully into leaving me use their machines :giggle: (Don't know why I didn't think of that sooner)

i dont know if anyone else has said this but I would ask before you go and explain that the cloth nappies is part of what you do for your child and you wonder if you could use her machine as you need to wash things somewhere, maybe explain that you can get the 'worst' off down the toilet lol, say you will bring your own powder, are there any special wahsing bags you can put them in to wash, and explain that nothing 'nasty' will become attached to the machine (all things i can imagine someone who doesnt like the idea would dread lol) you could even offer to clean the machine :giggle:
hope you find a way!

I always rinse dirty nappies really thoroughly anyway (don't like the idea of poo in my washing machine!), I'm more concerned about OH and the kids' muddy trousers causing problems than nappies! I wouldn't stress out about it, it's not so much to ask

We just washed them at my FILs without making a big deal about. Just "do you mind if I throw in a load of laundry?". But Leo has a bad reaction if he's in disposables too long and he leaks out of them at night, so there wasn't much of a choice for us. I think if it was going to be a problem I would have brought pockets and tons of inserts and hand washed.

I've been wondering the same thing all week! Staying with my in laws over Easter weekend and with twins there's no way I can go 4 days without doing a load of nappy washing... :hohoho:

My MIL is quite open to the idea of cloth as long as it's me doing the changing and washing so hopefully she doesn't mind me using her washing machine and her drier too (taking my stock of BG and hoping to revive the aplix in her drier as I don't have one at home  )

I take cloth with me to my parents and my FIL's with no trouble. I take our own detergent and nappy bags, and each 2nd night (last time we were at my parents as there for 2 wks) just stuck a nappy wash on once Faye had gone to bed, they have huge long radiators that are on low all the time so everything tended to be dry the next morning :hohoho:

My FIL was a bit of a funny one, he doesn't object to cloth but hes as precious about his washing machine as I am about her nappies! So we had a bit of a stand off in the kitchen - he did let me put them in the machine when he realised he might touch a wet one but wouldn't let me switch it on, so I had to instruct him over his shoulder and remind him twice not to add conditioner  We had a really bad poo though and it was everywhere, even escaped into the wrap  I had to use his bath to get the worst off and then out of paranoia (cause I didn't dare tell him) used half a bottle of Ciff to clean it afterwards!!
