Thanks for your replies. I think I will definitely avoid the Itti's and will look at pockets. I understand that with pockets you just put a booster into the pocket part and take it out when you need to wash it/dry it?

Congrats! :wine:

I used terry squares the first yr of Kellans cloth nappy life, which I found REALLY easy to use and dried overnight over a radiator rack not necessarily on. I bought some Motherease wraps to go with them. Total cost was about £80 inc nappy buckets etc so if you're on a budget they're fab as the only thing you'll need to buy is the next size up wraps. A friend is using Lollipops which are fleece and really quick drying too. http://www.teamlollipop.co.uk/shop/loll ... 008-0.html. They also have the softee which is just so nice to stroke :giggle: http://www.teamlollipop.co.uk/shop/loll ... 845-0.html

Hope that helps and you find something that suits you :D

Yes, you can get different types of boosters, microfibre absorbs quickly, hemp absorbs slowly. I use 2 microfibre ones in my pocket nappies, I change Kellan every 2 and a half to 3 hours

Also just to add have a look here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=158 for a list (very long be warned!!) of nappy sites, shop around for current bargains!

out of those choices your best bet is going to be the Pop-in. They're our main nappy, and the dream dri insert bits are dry within 30min of coming out of the washing machine, and the outers in a few hours. I like BumGenius too, but out of the 2 would say the pop-in is a better nappy as it has better leg gussets, and 1 extra row of poppers to adjust fit, and works better on newborns than a BG, also doesn't leak as much with toddlers (we had lots of issues with BG from about 17 months, hence the switch to the pop-in)

I would say to get the main bulk of your stash in BG or Pop-in, and maybe 1 or 2 "fun" nappies that would take a little longer to dry (like the itti, Fuzzis, Real Easy...) just to mix it up a bit. :)

If I go for pocket nappies, does anyone use Sugarbums (sold on ebay)? I think these are pocket nappies and i have heard some good things about them? Are they quick to dry?

Our main nappies tend to be bumgenius and I find the pocket much quicker drying than the aio organic. I think they are a good nappy for starting out. The outer part of the nappy tends to be quite quick drying so will easily dry overnight or even a few hours. One thing I would suggest that I found really useful when we lived in an apartment is to buy a few extra of the inserts and then you can use these with the pockets that have dried whilst your inserts are drying. Means you need less nappies too.

Of the 3 you said, Ittis tend to have the highest resale value but then as others have said, they are not always totally reliable and they are also sized so can work out more expensive than one size/birth to potty nappies. I love our Ittis but they aren't the most reliable I have to say.

I really rate Coolababys and they dry pretty quickly too. I normally use 2 of the microfibre inserts that come with them and that lasts a good 2-3 hours, you can always add a hemp booster or something if you need it to last a bit longer.

I was another one that said I only wanted to use AIOs/pockets and didn't want to use fitteds (2 parters) - i think most people end up changing their mind :) I now have a good mix of all 3 types and love some of our fitteds. A good fitted to try is a Little Lamb (www.littlelamb.co.uk) - they come in 3 different fabrics - cotton, bamboo or microfibre. My fave is bamboo but i do have a couple of microfibres and they dry REALLY quickly, they are practically dry when they come out of the washing machine! You can buy them on the classifieds on here quite cheap too. I normally use a Little Lamb wrap or a Motherease Airflow or Rikki wrap with our Little Lambs.
