With regard to negatives of BGs, I find microfibre inserts a bit naff, so I use different inserts, which pushes up the over all price of the nappy and leaves me with a pile of unused MF inserts.

And, if the environment is a big driving factor in your cloth use you should also consider the airmiles of the nappies, they're made in the US so they have to travel a long way to get to you. There are lots of UK or other EU made nappies that have to travel a much shorter distance.

You could try Totsbots. They have just re-released the Easy fit AIO (I didn't get on with the originals but am willing to give them another try....... beacuse they're really pretty Image) They're made in Scotland I believe.

Yep, tots are made in Scotland. I love our bamboozles, they're still our primary nappy. I think I'm one of the lucky people for whom the purchase of a BTP (birth to potty) pack pre-birth actually turned out to be a good thing

I dont mind having some "boring" functional nappies, but I do have lots of pretty ones just to show off too :) Im not sure the BGv4's seem to be worth it, the improvements they've made to the nappy seem to be very minor, but if you like them and they're not much more expensive than the V3's then go for it  The microfibre inserts bother me, I'd get some hemp or bamboo boosters to go in them as well.

As for WAHM (work at home mum) nappies, they do tend to be very pretty, customisable and comfy (think minkee linings, embroidery, bamboo velour) but also very functional. Weenotions onesize nappies fit just as well as BGs (in my opinion) and arent much more expensive if you only want one nice fabric as the outer, no embroidery etc. Buying WAHM nappies also means you are supporting mums in the UK (or whereever you buy them from) instead of companies using exploited labour in foreign countries.

If you are really looking for an environmentally sound combination, why not try a simple un-dyed fitted nappy (eg Weenotions Northen Lights) with a wool cover on top? The most breathable combination you can get... and all fully biodegradable. :D :D

for me the "catch" was when Natalie learned bladder control. She'd flood the thing, then sit down and it would leak everywhere. Got fed up of changing clothes, so switched to the pop-in and never looked back. So far, they're still working well on Ryan- though by this age we were leaking everywhere with Natalie. Think potty training with Ry will be a long way off! :)

Also the fit isn't as great on a newborn, esp if you're using it for a second baby as the elastic stretches with use. Otherwise I like it and it's a good staple nappy.

Rubbish elastic, it's just terrible after a while, with the new version one of their points is that the elastic is easy to replace, doesnt that just advertise how naf it is/was.
Plus they become painfully boring once you see what lovely fluffy stuff is out there...oh and dont go thinking that microfibre insert will actually function well but this is the same for most mf inserts that actually come with nappies  Same as the whole 'birth to potty' thing, that never happens.

Ive not had a problem with the microfibre insert SO FAR! In our whole weeks worth of useage!! Im reallllly not bothered how they look, but I am bothered if they are not going to last for a second child, thats one of my whole sales pitch points to Hubs!! Im such a pain, once i get used to something I dont want to change (I have had the same mobile for 5 yrs). Some one give me ONE similar alternative nappy that is more durable, then hand hold me through what I need to go with it and what I do with it!

Thanks again!!
