Mothercare Smart Nappies for newborns?

Postby Frances » Fri Oct 08, 2010 11:27 am

Anyone successfully used these with a newborn? I really like the look of them, the newborn size is really teeny, but I've only seen poor reviews saying that they leak...

Not used them myself but I know people who have. All the reviews are that they are great from about 6 months.

I used them from day 3 with Aoife and until I discovered this site, were amazing!!! They rarely leaked, yes the newborn size is tiny!!! I prefered using these to totsbots cottons as they were not so bulky

found them very good at the start with Natalie when she was too small for most things. Didn't like them so much for bigger sizes, so gave up, but a good fit on small babies.

Didn't have leaks, though you do end up changing the wrap+pad as poo is never just confined to the pad, but good to have a few in your stash to try.

I started with these and nearly gave up on cloth. Thinking back, it was only because the bf poo always covered the wrap as well as the pre fold and I had to change both every time. I think I would have been better off with terry squares at the start.

Thanks ladies  I don't mind having to change the whole nappy each time if that's the main issue, I'll prob make some minkee liners to try to avoid complete changes though. As reviews are mixed I've bought a cheap preloved set (£6 for 5 outers and 8 inners!!!) and will see how we get on before buying any more.

We used these after I got rid of the BamMios and we loved them. We used them from... maybe 1month to around 4 months when Dawn started screaming the moment she was put into cloth :-?
I'll actually be getting a few for number two when the time comes.
I agree with the others tho. No leaks for us, but we did have to wash the wraps more than they stated because the poo would get on the wrap.
