When to start newborn in cloth?

Postby littleb » Sun Jan 02, 2011 2:57 pm

I started my daughter who is now 5 in cloth at aboiut 11wks as the meos i had were v lg on her. This time i got some little lambs and a few other newborn nappies, my son is 7lb so small but not tiny, put them on him on day 5 but within 3 nappies they had rubbed a dry red patch around his tummy so hes back in disposables, any tips on when to put him in cloth and how to prevent sore dry patches on his sensitive skin?

Are they aplix closure? Could that be irritating him? We don't use aplix here but it used to rub DS's tummy and make it red when we did.

Is it the nappy or the wrap?

I've found Little Lambs applix almost always does that. It's the wide band of applix. Try something popper or nippa fastening. Or try removing the applix from the LL's and use a nippa instead. That may sort it!

Yes, I'm thinking it could be an aplix wrap like a Motherease Riki?? We only ever get red marks from wraps.

Thanks. It sounds like it may be the applix on the wraps then, will try him in them at night with his wool wrap and see how that goes.
