What "kind" of nappy are totsbots bamboozles and Flips?

Postby weebee » Tue Feb 15, 2011 2:25 pm

I'm trying to get my head round the different classifications of nappies and wondered what the totsbots bamboozle stretchie and BG flips would be classed as? I'm guessing the totsbots would be an all in 2/ two part nappy... or maybe a night nappy? And the flip a prefold or a semi-all in 2?

I have some bambinex teddies too and am thinking they are all in 2's and I know that the BG v4's I'm going to order are obviously a birth to potty pocket.

I'd really love to learn the jargon and would be grateful for your help!

Tots are a fitted nappy therefore require a wrap or other type of cover such as wool soaker/longies etc, bambinex teddies are an all in one but not the most reliable, we had one and used it for a hour before bedtime type nappy, never seen a flip so no help there I am afraid x

A flip is an all in two as it is an outer cover that needs and insert. Its not a pocket because there is no lining over the insert.

Thanks for the enlightenment ladies! I am getting there with understanding it all but it's a bit of a minefield as some nappies fall between the cracks ie. the Flip as they are very different to other all in two's as the inside bit is just a liner rather than resembling a nappy.

I now have another question: What is the difference between a fitted and an all in two? Thanks!

Cool! So an all in 2 needs a liner on the outside (i.e. not stuffed inside like a pocket but straight against baby) but not necessarily a wrap (except in exceptional cases like a Flip!)

And when people refer to ittis on here which ittis are the meaning? If it's an AI2 then I'm guessing it's not this kind of itti!

I had a play at a Nappuccino a few weeks ago but think I need to go back to get my head totally round it all! I think that I'll go in March when I'm on Mat leave!

Ok a fitted needs a wrap and is shaped.
A prefold/terry are flat nappies that require a wrap.
An all in 2 is an all in 1 that comes apart for washing.
An all in 1 is just that, all in 1, no need for a wrap or insert
A pocket has a pocket between the outer and the inner which reqires an absorbent insert.

Ittis come in aios (what you linked) and ai2s
